George Brown College recently issued the following announcement.

George Brown College is working with a vocational institute in China to explore how we can share expertise and provide new global opportunities in health sciences.

George Brown College signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Changzhou Health Vocation Technical College (CHVTC) on October 7, 2019. An 11-person delegation from the Chinese college, including its president, is spending four days visiting George Brown’s Centre for Health Sciences to explore specific ways we can work together on potential exchanges and program delivery. The MOU includes our Personal Support Worker program, and is open to further work with our gerontology, nursing and health informatics programs.

“As a learning community we are very interested in sharing best practices in a symbiotic relationship,” said George Brown College Vice-President, Academic, Cory Ross.

“In certain areas we are more advanced and in other areas the Changzhou school is more advanced. Together we can do great things through collaboration.”

Ross has a strong connection to China. In 2018, he was granted member laureate status by the Bethune Medical Development Association of Canada, an organization that promotes co-operative efforts between Canadian and Chinese medical professionals in research, education, public health, patient care and humanitarian work.

Our two schools will explore the following areas for potential collaboration:

Faculty and student exchanges

Exchange of research, teaching and faculty development

Development of pathways for diploma and degree completion

Development of joint program deliver
