Liberty Health Sciences, Inc., a cannabis provider and medical marijuana dispensary company based out of Toronto, has agreed to an $18 million settlement in regards to a pending securities class action lawsuit.
The suit was originally filed in Jan. 2019, according to a case summary posted to the Stanford Law School’s website. The original complaint alleged misleading statements by the company in regards to the production and distribution operations of DFMJJ LLC, otherwise known as Liberty Health Sciences Florida, Ltd.
A press release from Liberty Health Sciences posted to PR Newswire states that the company in no way offers admission to any of the accusations leveled against it.
The company signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the settlement on Nov. 19.
“The Company has agreed that $1.8 million US will be paid to settle all claims,” the statement reads, “The settlement is made without any admission or finding of liability and is subject to court approval. There is no assurance that the settlement agreement will receive court approval.”
