Association of Management, Administrative and Professional Crown Employees of Ontario issued the following announcement on Nov. 4.
At the close of nominations last week, Dave Bulmer was re-elected by acclamation as President of AMAPCEO for another two-year term. Dave has served as President since 2015 and will begin his fourth term of office on January 1, 2021.
Before his presidency, Dave was active in the union for many years, serving as a local leader in Ottawa and London, then as a Board Director, Chair of the Board, and Treasurer. He also serves as AMAPCEO’s representative on the Ontario Pension Board, which administers the Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP) and is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Centre for Labour Management Relations at Ryerson University and Lancaster House at the University of Toronto.
Reflecting on his most recent two-year term, Bulmer spoke to the resiliency of AMAPCEO members and their union, especially this year.
“Together, with purpose, AMAPCEO members have risen to the occasion and faced down what 2020 has thrust upon us,” he said. “The citizens of Ontario have relied on us for calm during a time of chaos, for leadership during a time of confusion, and for our stabilizing presence in our local communities during a time of economic struggle. And, in the same way that our members have been there for the public, I’m proud to say that AMAPCEO has been there for its members.”
Since Bulmer’s initial election, AMAPCEO has grown its membership by almost 20%, increased its membership services capabilities, overhauled its internal governance structure to better align with members’ needs, and successfully negotiated contracts for all of its units. Contract provisions include ground-breaking family leave and improvements for contract and temporary workers.
President Bulmer is looking forward to serving another term working on behalf of the union’s 14,000 plus members.
“I’m honoured to have been re-elected. A great deal of positive change has occurred and with a new strategic plan in place, we have a solid foundation from which to build. I’m excited to put these uncertain times behind us and to shape the workplace of the future. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished these past six years and in particular the resolve we’ve all shown this past year.”
