Ryerson has announced the approval of 99 new tenure-stream positions.
I am pleased to announce that Ryerson University has approved 99 new tenure-stream positions and has completed the hiring of 71 tenure-stream faculty members. Of this group, 57 joined us this September and the remainder will begin their roles during the next academic year. In addition, I would also like to welcome 13 new limited-term faculty members to the Ryerson community.
As we continue to expand upon our existing academic talent, we remain committed to Truth and Reconciliation, to advancing Indigenous initiatives, and to becoming a leader in Indigenous education. This critical aspect of our 2020-25 Academic Plan includes strategic efforts to remove barriers that will increase access to postsecondary education for Indigenous learners, and we now have 24 Indigenous faculty members at Ryerson who will be instrumental in finding meaningful ways to embed Indigenous thinking, ideas, experiences and expertise into our curriculum.
This summer we also welcomed Roberta Iannacito-Provenzano as Ryerson’s new vice-provost, faculty affairs. She has been a wonderful addition to our academic community, and our exemplary teaching and scholarship culture will continue to flourish under her leadership.
“I’m incredibly happy to be working alongside such a dedicated team of faculty members, instructors and administrators who continue to prioritize teaching innovation and SRC activities while navigating a global pandemic,” says Iannacito-Provenzano. “When we support creative pedagogy and emphasize cross-disciplinary research, we are better positioned to inspire long-term, positive change that will benefit society at large.”
I would like to thank all of our faculty members for their commitment to Ryerson and its students, and for adapting so quickly to this new teaching environment. Your hard work has not gone unnoticed and is deeply appreciated. I wish everyone success this semester and in the years ahead.
Saeed Zolfaghari
Interim Provost and Vice-President, Academic
