George Brown College recently issued the following announcement.
We’ve partnered with Samsung Canada to provide the latest mobile phone technology to students at the School of Media and Performing Arts who will use those devices to create video content.
The Samsung Galaxy smartphone filmmaking initiative launched in the Video Design and Production program in January 2020. Students in two courses (Video Production I and Special Effects) will have access to Galaxy Note10 and Galaxy S10 devices to both shoot and produce video content.
As part of this initiative, students will participate in a group project using traditional and non-linear filming techniques to create a digital video project using the Samsung phones. Students will see the project through from the idea stage and pre-production to post-production and delivery, gaining advanced filmmaking techniques with smartphones.
“This partnership with Samsung provides an important opportunity for students to experiment with new tools and techniques. As the capabilities of smartphone video technology continue to move at lightning speed, our students must be able to adapt quickly to these changes. We’re excited to see the work our students produce,” says Trent Scherer, Chair, School of Media and Performing Arts.
