BASF Canada Inc. issued the following announcement on Aug. 17.
A team of nine BASF employees and their friends cycled 950 miles collectively to raise more than $13,000 for the 31stAnnual Wish-A-Mile® Bicycle Tour.
“It is great finishing as Team BASF and meeting children who benefit from the event at the finish line celebration,” said BASF employee and team leader Tom McKay. “So many of the riders have a reason to support this worthy cause, and year after year everyone involved with the event is sincerely happy to participate.”
The Make-A-Wish Foundation Michigan hosts a charity cycling tour annually to help grant wishes for Michigan children with life-threatening medical conditions. This year’s cycling tour started with a 300-mile ride from Traverse City, Michigan and concluded with a 50-mile ride at the Eaton Proving Grounds in Marshall, Michigan. Approximately 800 cyclists participated and raised nearly $2.3 million.
“With participating in this ride our BASF colleagues showed generosity and commitment to make a difference in our communities,” said Greg Pflum, Vice President and General Manager of BASF’s Midwest Hub. “At BASF we encourage employees to find a cause they have a passion for, so they can make an impact.”
