Association of Management, Administrative and Professional Crown Employees of Ontario issued the following announcement on Aug. 14.
Each year at the Annual Delegates’ Conference (ADC), your District Delegates elect the executive officers of the Board of Directors, select members to sit on ADC committees, approve an annual budget and vote on policy resolutions and proposed constitutional amendments which set the direction for our union in the future. This year’s ADC is scheduled for December 6th, 7th and 8th in Toronto.
Most policy resolutions originate as a recommendation from a committee or are proposed by the Board of Directors, but it is also possible for individual Delegates to propose resolutions for consideration. Such individual resolutions start with a good idea or a belief that there is an issue that needs to be addressed, a problem fixed, or a gap plugged. If you as a rank-and-file member of AMAPCEO have an idea or suggestion that you feel should be considered, please get in touch with your District Director or a Delegate from your District to ask them to submit your idea in the form of a resolution for this year’s conference!
Please note that the Terms of Reference for the Resolution Committee were amended at the 2017 ADC, to remove the need for the submitters of resolutions to provide an estimated cost. Beginning this year, the Board of Directors will provide cost estimates for each resolution, if relevant, as part of the Board’s response to the annual Resolutions Committee Report. This report is provided to delegates as part of their ADC package.
Reminder –Constitutional amendments are to be submitted in the same manner but are not reviewed or commented on by the Resolutions Committee. The Board of Directors can provide written comments in response to constitutional amendments in their report to the ADC.
The deadline to submit a resolution or constitutional amendment is: September 14, 2018
