Joe Wong is a political science professor and the Ralph and Roz Halbert Professor of Innovation at the Munk School of Global Affairs. He's also U of T's associate vice-president and vice-provost, international student experience (photo by Johnny Guatto)
Joseph Wong says his job as professor isn’t just to impart skills and knowledge, but to teach students to ask more questions and take risks.
“As a professor, I talk about this all the time. I preach curiosity and audacity,” he says.
Each year, he leads students far away from their Toronto classrooms to parts of the developing world where people are isolated from social services. The goal of the Reach Project is to come up with ideas to improve the delivery of social services across the world so they reach even the most vulnerable people.
Over the past year, students involved with the project have conducted research in Ethiopia, Tunisia, Palestine and Sri Lanka.
Meet Joe Wong.
