City of Toronto issued the following announcement on April 3.
Mayor John Tory and Helen Berhane, Chair of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Canada, will launch the 2018 Mayor's School Cricket Tournament for the Canadian Tire Trophy on Thursday. School cricketers from across Toronto will receive awards for their excellence in cricket and community coaches will receive Mayor's recognition awards.
Date: Thursday, April 5
Time: 10 a.m. to noon, remarks at 10:30 a.m.
Location: Central Tech Soccer Dome, 725 Bathurst St., Toronto
Joining City officials at the ceremony for the eighth annual tournament will be Mahes Wickramasinghe, Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Officer of Canadian Tire Corporation, Christopher Usih, Associate Director of the Toronto District School Board, and Rory McGuckin, Director of Education with the Toronto Catholic District School Board.
Dwight Drummond, news anchor/co-host with CBC News Toronto, will MC the event.
The tournament will be held at Sunnybrook Park and G. Ross Lord Park from May 15 to 31.
