FrontFour Capital Group LLC and Sandpiper Group recently nominated three people to join Granite Real Estate Investment Trust’s board of trustees and Granite REIT Inc.’s board of directors.

Al Mawani, Peter Aghar and Samir Manji were nominated for election, which took place at the joint meeting of the boards June 15, according to a press release.

“We believe that the reconstituted Board represents a group of individuals with extensive real estate and governance expertise,” FrontFour said in the release. “All five new Board nominees, including Al Mawani, Peter Aghar and Samir Manji, are seasoned real estate veterans, highly respected in the real estate industry and have considerable board experience. We believe the Board transition will be seamless with a focus on creating value for all unitholders."

FrontFour, which is based out of the United States, was founded in 2006.

The Sandpiper Group, based out of Vancouver, is a private equity firm which invests in real estate through securities and direct property investments.

FrontFour and Sandpiper are owners of roughly 6.2 percent of the outstanding stapled units of Granite Real Estate Invest Trust.
