Generali Global Assistance has participated in a big event in Toronto -- the IdentityNorth conference -- as a gold sponsor.
Generali Global Assistance offers a product called Generali Global Assistance IDP that delivers comprehensive identity protection. The company also has other divisions selling travel insurance and providing other kinds of assistance to customers.
At the conference, Generali Global Assistance was slated to host a presentation by chief medical officer Dr. Eugene Deluane, titled "The Growing Concern of Medical Identity Fraud."
"The costs of medical identity fraud can average in the thousands of dollars, but even more frightening are the medical impacts,” Deluane said in a press statement. “Inaccurate medical records can create unsafe situations when there is confusion about the victim's true health status, which can lead to misdiagnosis, mistreatment, and delay in receiving proper care. Additionally, disclosure of sensitive health information can lead to embarrassment and even employment issues. I look forward to arming IdentityNorth attendees with the information necessary to identify, prevent and resolve medical identity fraud."
Generali Global Assistance media contact Jay A. Morakis agrees.
“(Medical identity fraud) is a very serious issue in today's world,” Morakis told Toronto Business Daily. “You may be misdiagnosed or mistreated due to inaccurate medical records, or fraudulent health insurance claims.”
Morakis explained the four fundamental pillars of the identity security that Generali Global Assistance IDP provides: prevention and education, monitoring, alerts and resolution, the latter of which includes identity theft insurance.
When it comes to monitoring your identity, Morakis said, alerts are critical.
“When suspicious activity impacting your accounts occurs, Generali Global Assistance IDP sends you an alert immediately,” Morakis said.
It's also important, he added, to monitor someone's identity on the "dark web," where illicit data practices take place. Having this kind of monitoring, he said, helps with proactive protection.
“Maybe your ID hasn't even been stolen yet,” Morakis said. “Now you know that your information is out in the ether so that you can take action before further damage is done.”
Morakis said Generali Global Assistance IDP also offers “24/7 full-service resolution.”
“Generali Global Assistance’s team of certified resolution experts works to repair all identity assets for you,” Morakis said, referencing the company’s “white-glove service.”
