Home Capital Group Inc. recently tapped James Lisson, a nearly 40-year veteran of the legal profession, to serve on its board of directors.
The company announced that Lisson will fill the board of director position previously held by John Marsh, who is stepping down from his post.
Lisson’s career spans 39 years and includes work in legal, board, executive and advisory roles, including senior positions at two leading law firms in Canada. Lisson worked at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt in Toronto for 25 years as partner and vice chair of the firm’s financial services group. His experience also includes nine years with London’s Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP as a partner and counsel.
“Jim Lisson is yet another excellent addition to the Home Capital Board of Directors as we move ahead with our governance renewal,” Home Capital’s board chair Brenda Eprile said in a press release. “He brings deep expertise in areas that are vital to our future success and we look forward to his counsel.”
Lisson, a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Law Society of England and Wales, is past chair of the National and Ontario Business Law Sections for the Canadian Bar Association. He is a graduate of Yale University, where he earned a Master of Laws, and holds a Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University.
