Canadian technology website Zoocasa.com recently launched a new feature that not only allows its users to search for homes according to school boundaries but also shares data and ratings for each school.
The new tool includes 3,825 elementary schools, 912 secondary schools and 83 school boards from across Ontario, according to an announcement. Users can also view current and five-year historical data from the Education Quality & Accountability Office, rankings for the schools and a map with school boundaries.
Zoocasa’s CEO Lauren Haw said the site, which was relaunched last year, added the tool so homebuyers would have a user-friendly way to gather school data when looking for properties.
“Finding a home in a great school district is a major factor for the majority of home searches, but it’s currently cumbersome for the average buyer to try and connect the dots between the school’s ranking, its boundary and available listings in that particular area to make the best purchase choice,” Haw said.
She also said that knowing where a home is in a certain boundary can be beneficial to long-term planning.
“Homes across the street from each other may be in different catchment areas,” Haw said. “Understanding where your home is within a certain boundary can help with long-term transition planning and reduce unnecessary moves. Not to mention wealth accumulation, school rankings are highly correlated to real estate prices,” she said.
