TORONTO — New York City's The Halal Guys franchise restaurant is making its way to Toronto, opening its first location in Ontario on May 5.
The Middle Eastern food restaurant, which will be at 563 Yonge Street, will open at 11 a.m. The first 300 customers will have a change to win The Halal Guys merchandise such as t-shirts, sunglasses and discount vouchers. Customers can also have the chance to win a food voucher for free food for a month when they sign up for The Halal Guys loyalty program.
“We are extremely excited to be opening in Toronto,” The Halal Guys Toronto franchise co-owner Imran Momin said in a press release. “The demand for The Halal Guys from people who have experienced our food has been very strong and we are thrilled to not only be able to serve people who already love our food, but to also introduce our brand to new customers as well."
Momin, along with his cousins Alveen Momin and Averroes Momin will be operating the new Toronto franchise and have plans in the works to open several additional The Halal Guys locations throughout Toronto and neighboring cities.
The Halal Guys first started in 1990 with food carts operating throughout Manhattan. Since then, the food-cart operation has turned into several franchises of fast-casual dining restaurants.
